Also, ask around - many families who have been attending the balls for the last several years may have appropriate dresses hanging in their closets that they might allow you to borrow, buy and have.

For those who have the time and talent for sewing, making a vintage ball gown can be a rewarding project. Most pattern companies offer a variety of interesting styles under the costume section of their catalogs/websites.

The Holiday Vintage Ball Committee has found and purchased a few appropriate used gowns that will be available to purchase at our cost. They are listed below.
We are also offering gowns for sale by individuals from the Roanoke area (many of which have been worn to Balls in the past). Please check this page often for postings of additional gowns as they become available.
If you or anyone you know would like to sell a gown, please send an e-mail to holidayvintageball@gmail.com with the following:
* A photo of the entire gown (preferably on a person or dress form),
* A photo of the entire gown (preferably on a person or dress form),
* The size & length from shoulder to hem.
* The asking price
* The seller’s contact information (e-mail address or phone number)
If gown will work to wear to the Holiday Vintage Ball, we will post it on this page. Then anyone interested can contact the seller.
Please note, since women are different shapes & sizes, the same gown may be appropriate on one woman, but immodest on another. Do not assume that if a dress is posted on this page that it must be appropriate for any woman to wear to the Ball. Please carefully read the Standards of Attire for Ladies to make sure the gown, worn by you, meets or exceeds these Standards.
